Govt Caps Zimsec Subjects, Orders Refunds for Extra Fees
The Government has introduced new limits on Zimbabwe School Examinations Council exam registrations, capping Ordinary Level candidates at nine subjects and Advanced Level candidates at three. Schools have been instructed not to accept fees for subjects beyond these limits, with refunds promised to learners who already paid for excess entries. Authorities say the move is designed to promote focused learning, improve performance, and align assessments with the Heritage-Based Curriculum. It also addresses a growing trend of students registering for unusually high numbers of subjects in pursuit of better results. The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education confirmed the policy is already in effect, with March 27 set as the deadline for November 2026 exam registration.
