Source: President demands results…‘Shed mere talk, be productive’ – herald Nyore Madzianike and Joseph Madzimure THE younger generation must shed a culture of mere talk but instead, become productive implementers of economic and social policies, President Mnangagwa has said. Youths, the President said, need to take up the Fourth Chimurenga with conviction and unflinching patriotism as Zimbabwe accelerates towards its Vision 2030 aspirations. The President, who is also Zanu PF First Secretary, made the remarks while addressing the ruling party’s National Youth League National Assembly at the party’s headquarters in Harare yesterday. “We should now see all secretaries within the National Youth League Executive report on progress, and the associated statistics, with regard to youth-led entities in relation to production, export levels, jobs created, tax contribution and indeed financial support availed to party programmes. “As First Secretary, I will not allow the Youth League to be a club of mere ‘talkers’.
All your members have a duty to be productive and implementers of the Party’s economic and social policies. “Lasting development and prosperity are a result of hard, honest work, brick upon brick, step by step.” The President enjoined youths countrywide to embrace hard work and contribute towards national development. “Kwese kwatiri, kumaprovinces, madistricts nekuma wards, ngatikurudzirei vechidiki vose kushanda. Nyika inovakwa, inotongwa, inonamatirwa nevene vayo. Ilizwe lakhiwa, libuswe, li-khu-le-khe-lwe ngabanikazi balo,” he said.
In his address, President Mnangagwa said the future being built under the Second Republic requires foresighted thinkers, meticulous planners and focused implementers. President Mnangagwa converses with Zanu PF secretary-general Advocate Jacob Mudenda at the National Youth Assembly meeting in Harare yesterday As such, the President said youth had to be defined by their contribution as society demanded tangible results. He urged the youth to always expose and reject those bent on sowing seeds of division, derailing national development, peace and unity, through negativity and despondency. “I am pleased with this opportunity to once again address the youth of our colossal revolutionary mass party, here congregated as the Youth League National Assembly.
It is most opportune that this meeting is taking place against the backdrop of defining events in our party and nation. “I challenge you the youth leaders of the party, in particular, take time to reflect on the present and past events, along with the broader environment, to be more proactive and strategic in the manner your programmes unfold.” President Mnangagwa said engagements held during the National Youth Day commemorations in Marondera were forward-looking and focused on repositioning young people as active participants in the socio-economic and political transformation of the country. Youth vocational training centres were critical vehicles through which the Youth Service in Zimbabwe was being spearheaded. “Together, we emphasised the need to reposition the youth of Zimbabwe as more active participants in the ongoing socio-economic and political transformation of our great motherland, Zimbabwe. “The launch of the E.D. Mnangagwa Youth Service and Vocational Training Centre was pivotal in relation to the model we are now deploying to institutionalise skills training, discipline and national consciousness. “The key aim is to ensure that you, the young people, are accelerators of industrialisation, modernisation, sustainable development and prosperity in our country.” Zanu PF national chairperson Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri (right), Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training Minister Tino Machakaire (centre) and the ruling party’s secretary for Women’s Affairs and Senate president Cde Mabel Chinomona (left) sing at the Zanu PF National Youth Assembly meeting in Harare yesterday. – Pictures: Memory Mangombe Further, the President commended the Youth League for supporting both party and Government programmes.
The turnout of young people during the recent 46th Independence Day commemorations demonstrated the enduring spirit of independence, freedom, unity and national pride among youths. “To date, I commend you, the Youth League, for the organisational ability and support you continue to render for the success of both our party and Government programmes. “Well done. As the League, you have a responsibility to nurture this culture,” he said. President Mnangagwa said the establishment of the Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Vocational Training Centre in Maphisa, Matabeleland South Province, was another demonstration of the party’s commitment to providing skills that drive youth development and improve livelihoods closer to communities. “The Youth League leadership has a duty to publicise these new institutions and facilitate the necessary careers and skills guidance among the intended beneficiaries. “Our country is fast achieving aspirations projected under Vision 2030.
The future we are building under the Second Republic requires foresighted thinkers, meticulous planners and focused implementers,” he said. To participate fully in all sectors of the economy, the President charged young people to deliberately acquire the requisite skills and knowledge. He said initiatives such as the Youth Business Forum held on the sidelines of this year’s Zimbabwe International Trade Fair were encouraging as they integrated young entrepreneurs into productive sectors of the economy. “As the ZANU PF Youth League at all levels, normalise engaging at the level of ideas, more so now under the 4th Chimurenga.
More partnerships should be pursued with organisations such as ZIMTRADE to help youth enter export markets. “Various bilateral and multilateral MOUs signed by my administration should be leveraged for the entry of youth-owned businesses into regional and global value chains.” An economy, anchored on innovation, value addition, beneficiation and increased productivity, the President added, demanded a fundamental mindset shift. On its part, President Mnangagwa said his administration remained committed to investing in the capabilities and future of young Zimbabweans through policies and programmes. In the wake of global shock wrought by geopolitical tensions and conflicts, the President said Zimbabwe is sharpening its domestic strategies to insulate the economy. “To date, our numerous policies, programmes and interventions are laying a firm foundation for a generation that is productive, disciplined and fully aware of its responsibilities. “The evident culture of service, patriotism and innovation among the young people across the country is pleasing. “As a people-centred administration, we are continually sharpening our domestic strategies and plans to de-risk and insulate our national development trajectory,” he said.
He called on every citizen and entity to strengthen productive capacities and build resilience across all sectors of the economy, as sustainable progress depends on harnessing internal strengths and safeguarding national interests. “Let us, therefore, build resilience and self-sufficiency across all sectors of the economy. Embracing new technologies, innovation and supporting research and development has become an urgent necessity. “While we remain open to global partnerships and engagement, we recognise that sustainable progress depends on the ability to harness our internal strengths, exercise policy independence and prudence, as we continue to chart a course which is deeply rooted in our own national interests,” he said. The President said the current generation of youths must be defined by its contribution to the nation’s development and impactful results. “As the young people of this great country, yours now is a generation which must be defined by contribution and impactful results.
The communities demand results that are visible. “I call upon you to reject the temptation of fence sitting, empty applause and grandstanding. Instead, steer the party and communities towards productivity and the realisation of a higher quality of life,” he said. Zanu PF youths sing at the colourful event Discipline, integrity and hard, honest work remained critical values for both the party and the country. “Discipline, integrity and hard, honest work must not simply be spoken of; they must be lived without compromise.
We can never sustain a strong, modern, adaptive, resilient revolutionary mass Party and country, based on weak principles.” Towards that end, President Mnangagwa said revolutionary unity, patriotism, loyalty, discipline, integrity and productivity were irreplaceable values that guaranteed the perpetuity of both the people and the party. ZANU PF remained a people-centred party guided by its ideology and constitution. “Individually and collectively, province by province, let us recommit to the mission of our party as outlined in our Constitution. “Musangano wedu ndeweruzhinji, unegwara nemaitiro. Sevatungamiri vechidiki, hamuiti mazvake mazvake.
Teverai gwara, musatsauke. Isu takapinda kuma 1960s nanhasi tichirimo, nekuti hatina kuita mavato. Rambai muri straight — mugwara.” President Mnangagwa encouraged the Youth League to strengthen relations with sister revolutionary movements and progressive organisations beyond Zimbabwe’s borders. “Participation at strategic regional and international platforms should help sharpen ideas and strategies for the benefit of the party as well as amplify our collective voice on the global stage, with like-minded nations,” he said.
At the national level, President Mnangagwa challenged youths to rise to the assignment before them under the Fourth Chimurenga. “At the national level, I challenge you to rise to the assignment before you as the youth, under the 4th Chimurenga, with conviction and unflinching patriotism. “Always expose and reject those bent on sowing seeds of division, derailing national development, peace and unity, through negativity and despondency.” President Mnangagwa said the Youth League should broaden grassroots membership and reinforce political and ideological education to ensure that ZANU-PF remained home to all youths in Zimbabwe. He expressed confidence in the Youth League’s ability to help build the nation and achieve Vision 2030 goals. “No youth must be left behind. Continue inspiring other young people within your respective provinces, districts and wards.
Rambai muchiwanikwa muri muma cell and village structures of the party.” The meeting was attended by Zanu PF national chairman Cde Oppah Muchinguri Kashiri, secretary-general Advocate Jacob Mudenda, Secretary for the Women’s League Cde Mable Chinomona, Secretary for Legal Affairs Cde Ziyambi Ziyambi and Secretary for the Youth League Cde Tino Machakaire, among other top officials The post President demands results…‘Shed mere talk, be productive’ appeared first on Zimbabwe Situation .
